Kyocera presents its high-performance ceramics for medical devices for the first time at Compamed 2025

From 17 to 20 November, KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH will showcase its high-performance ceramics – a key driver of innovation in the medical technology sector – at the international trade fair for medical technology in Düsseldorf.

  • Fine Ceramic Components

Kyoto/Esslingen − For the first time at this year's Compamed, Kyocera is presenting its advanced ceramic materials for the further development of modern medical technology. Drawing on its extensive experience, production capacities, materials and manufacturing technologies, the company is demonstrating its contributions to the advancement of the next-generation of medical devices for its customers.

High-performance ceramics as a key material for medical technology

Using high-performance ceramics in medical technology enables the development of reliable and precise devices, as well as the implementation of new diagnostic methods. “Our message is clear: high-performance ceramics are a key driver of innovation in this field,” emphasises Gonzalo Moranchel, Sales Engineer at KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH. “Furthermore, with our extensive material portfolio, we can find the right solution for almost any application.” Whether in diagnostics, surgical technology or medical electronics, the range includes:

  • Oxide ceramics with excellent biocompatibility and high wear resistance
  • Non-oxide ceramics with exceptional strength and thermal stability
  • Composite ceramics that combine the best properties of different materials
  • Single-crystal sapphire, which offers maximum optical clarity and durability
  • Metallised ceramics, which ensure a reliable connection between ceramic and metal components

Use of ceramic materials in medical devices

Kyocera's technical ceramics are already integrated in numerous medical devices, playing a key role in functionality, safety, and reliability. Examples include:

  • Insulators for high-voltage and electrical applications, enabling stable and safe power transmission
  • Anode and cathode ceramics for electrochemical and energy-related systems
  • Sapphire membranes offering exceptional transparency and chemical resistance
  • Ceramic-metal feedthroughs ensuring hermetic sealing in implants and electronics
  • Complex ceramic geometries with micrometre tolerances, enabling possibilities for miniaturised, high-precision medical devices

These applications illustrate the versatility of high-performance ceramics in medical technology and their contribution to the further development of the industry.
